Want to launch your career in cyber security but don’t have prior IT experience or education and don’t know where to start?
This programme is open to anyone aged 18+ and currently unemployed or working on a zero-hours contract.
Don’t have a degree? You don’t need any qualifications or experience to apply and we encourage applications from groups under-represented in the tech industry – particularly women, those without university degrees and those aged under 35.
Join Generation’s free bootcamp to build your confidence in a supportive environment and land your first job in IT Support with the tools to progress into in-demand cyber security roles within 3-5 years.

Who is this programme for?

We are looking for learners who:
- enjoy working with IT hardware and software
- like to help people and have an understanding of good customer service
- are enthusiastic about sustaining a great career in IT
Learner requirements
- Aged 18+
- Not in education, training, or working regularly more than 16 hours per week
- Have the legal right to work & live in Ireland – for non-EU citizens, we can only accept applications from those on a Stamp 1G Spousal (Graduate Stamp 1G Visas are not eligible) or Stamp 4 Visa
- Live in Ireland, in particular Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Louth & Wicklow and – if applicable – willing to relocate to commutable areas for job opportunities in employer centres
- Available for 9 weeks, and ready to start a full time entry level job straight after the course
What will you gain from the programme?
Free training: Over 9 weeks, you’ll learn how to successfully launch your career in IT Support and the skills needed with our dedicated Curriculum team.
Cyber Security: learn specific security technical skills around networking, configuring accounts and many more to help you stand out from the crowd.
Mentoring (on programme and 6 months after): You will receive one to one mentoring support throughout the programme and for 6 months after to support your journey into employment.
Connect with employers: At the end of the programme, we will connect you with employers with live vacancies and help you with your employability such as CV writing and mock interviews.

We’ll help you learn the technical skills with lots of hands-on, interactive sessions. By the end, you’ll understand:
- How to diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems across the latest technologies
- How to configure and install networks and operating systems with the right security

In every job, there are key skills that will help you be successful and stand out as a high quality team member. We’ll help you learn how to develop the key behavioural skills that will ensure you can transition into your new career smoothly and successfully. You’ll develop skills in:

Are you currently receiving jobseeker payments from INTREO?
INTREO customers can continue to receive their jobseeker payments while taking part in a Generation Ireland programme. To make sure your payments continue, you should:
- Receive an offer from Generation for your chosen boot-camp programme
- Submit a completed Education, Training and Development application to your local INTREO centre, along with a copy of your Generation offer email
- Receive written approval from your INTREO centre before starting day one of your Generation programme
INTREO state that to continue receiving jobseeker’s payment, you should be:
- aged over 21 and in receipt of a jobseeker’s payment for 6 months.
- OR aged between 18 and 20, and have not been in formal education for 2 years, plus 6 months in receipt of a jobseeker’s payment.
If you don’t meet these criteria, you can still apply to a Generation programme but you won’t be able to continue receiving jobseeker’s payment.
During your programme, you will then continue to receive your normal weekly payment, the availability condition of your jobseeker’s payment is waived, and you are not required to sign-on the Live Register.
Program Dates
What does an IT Helpdesk Analyst do?
As a helpdesk analyst, you play a important role in companies as the first contact between the company and its customers.
You’ll be the main point of contact with customers, providing the first level of support. You handle incoming help requests and queries via email or phone and also liaise with other IT experts to provide solutions to customer problems and issues. Helpdesk analysts quickly assess every situation and determine the best course of action for the customer.
The Application Process
Application form
20 minutesShare some details about your circumstances with us so we can let you know if you are eligible for the programme. This will involve uploading copies of documents that demonstrate your right to work in the UK and employment status.
Complete a short task
30 minutesIn your own time, please complete an online task. Don’t worry, you don’t need to have any existing knowledge or experience to do this.
Group activity
30 minutesMeet us virtually and complete a fun activity with up to 5 other applicants for the programme.
Record a video answering some questions
45 minutesWe’ll invite you along to a briefing session and go over the interview questions with you so there are no surprises! You will then record your interview in your own time.
Conditional programme offer
If you’re successful at the interview, we’ll make you a conditional offer to join our bootcamp!

Take part in some welcome activities to get to know your class, then get ready to join us on day one of the boot-camp!
