Frequently Asked Questions

Am I guaranteed a place on the bootcamp once I have applied?

There are limited spaces available on each programme for each start date and we receive a high volume of applications, therefore there is no guarantee of securing a place on course.

Are the programmes online or in person and how long do they take to complete?

The majority of our bootcamps are online instructor-led classes which are held via Teams. The duration and individual detail varies per bootcamp, however all are full-time, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, unless specified otherwise, and we would need you to be available for the duration.

I’m not sure which programme I should apply to. Can I apply to more than one programme?

We understand that there are a lot of programmes to choose from and would recommend that you take a good look at each programme page on our website and perhaps do some of your own research into the types of roles you could find yourself in in the future, so that you can decide on the best path for you.

Whilst you are able to apply to multiple programmes, we are unable to accept you onto more than one bootcamp as a student, therefore we would advise that you choose one bootcamp to apply to at a time. Should you be unsuccessful in securing a place on your chosen course, we would be more than happy to consider a future application for a different bootcamp if you feel it would better suit your needs and you meet the eligbility criteria.

Please note, if you are a previous Generation Bootcamp Graduate, you would be ineligible for future programmes.

I have started my application but I’m having technical issues. How can I fix this?

Potential issues.
Blank screen – We have a few potential fixes below for you to try to resolve this:
– CTRL+SHIFT+R (refresh cache)
– Use different browser
– Use different device
– Use incognito window
Application has restarted – You may have logged in using a different method than previously used. To access your existing application, you need to ensure you are logging in with your email and password if you registered manually, via Google if you signed up via Google or via Facebook if you signed up via Facebook.
I can see my application but I can’t continue with it – Please check the status of your application. This may be “Abandoned” or “Rejected”. If you have accidentally abandoned your application, please contact the relevant programme inbox to have this reactivated. If rejected, please see the query below regarding rejected applications.
It may also be that you applied to an old programme and the application portal is no longer active. In order to apply for a new programme, please log out of your existing application and start a new one using a new email address, or by signing in using the Google or Facebook options (if your previous application was created manually).
If your application status is active and you are stuck at a review stage, this means your application is as up to date as can be for now and we will contact you with next steps once you have completed your Group Task and Interview.
I can’t upload my documents/documents showing in yellow – Make sure you are uploading documents in the relevant file formats (docx., pdf. etc). If the document sections are showing in yellow, this means they have been uploaded but need to be manually checked by our Admissions Team to confirm they pass eligibility requirements. The team will contact you if anything further is needed. Please ensure you upload all required documents at the same time as once submitted, you will be unable to upload more to the online application.

How do I apply for a programme?

Navigate to the programme page in your region of the UK and select the “Apply Now” button. If there is an option to register your interest instead of to apply, this means that we are not currently receiving applications for that specific bootcamp. Please do register your interest if this is the case and we will contact you once applications are open for your chosen programme.

How long does the application process take and when is the deadline for completing my application?

You should be able to complete most sections of the online application fairly quickly. The application process itself, from starting your application through to receiving confirmation on whether your application has been successful can take a few weeks to months depending on how early you apply. We recommend starting your application as early as possible, to ensure that you can complete all sections of the process before selection and onboarding take place.

If applying within two weeks prior to the start date of the bootcamp, please reach out to the relevant team before starting your application to confirm if we are still considering new applications at this time.

How much does the programme cost?

Our bootcamps are free for all students.

Is there an age limit to apply?

The minimum age can differ between programme and region. The absolute minimum age is 18 years. Please make sure to check the requirements on the programme page on the website to be sure. We do not currently hold an upper age limit for applying.

There are no interview dates, am I too late?

If there are no available Group Task or Interview slots on Calendly when you reach this stage of the application, please email the relevant programme inbox as soon as possible to find out if new dates will become available or if we are no longer able to facilitate this part of the process due to high volumes of applications already received. One of our team will get back to provide an update.

What can I do to make my application stand out?

Once you’ve made it to the interview stage, we want to get to know more about you and your reasons for wanting to join the bootcamp and find a career in that specific industry, so please make sure to give as much information as you can about what you have learnt from our website and information session, along with why you are passionate about a career in your chosen sector. Make sure you read up on the programme you have chosen on the website and be sure to either join the taster day or watch the recording of the information session if you are unable to attend live.

What is the Information Session and how can I register to attend?

Attending an information session is an important part of the process. This is your opportunity to find out about the programme, hear from employers and past graduates from the course and also receive information about the next stages of the process.
You should make every effort to attend the information session, however, if this is not possible you will still be able to access the next part of the application and we will send you a recording of the event. Our Information Sessions are available to register to through your online application.

What support will I be provided to secure employment?

Generation graduates continue to be supported by Mentors and receive expert guidance to secure employment for up to six months after the programme duration. This includes creating stand-out CVs and receiving interview coaching on how to perform at competency and technical interviews. Generation graduates are also introduced to employers looking for entry-level talent through our exclusive Employer Connection Events. At Generation, we are committed to supporting you to gain employment, which is why as standard all graduates are supported for 6 months after graduation to help you land your dream role.

I have a question about my application which isn’t covered in the FAQs. Who can I contact?

If you have read through these FAQs and are unable to find the answer you are looking for, please contact the relevant programme inbox and our team will endeavour to reply as soon as possible. Please find the relevant email addresses below:

  • For our Data Analytics Programme – dataanalyticsprogramme@generation.org

Why was my application rejected?

If your application is automatically rejected at eligibility stage, due to you not meeting on or more of the criteria set out for the programme, the system will send an automated email with a list of potential reasons for rejection. At eligibility stage, these include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • You do not meet the minimum age requirement
  • You do not live in the catchment area
  • You are employed and working more than the permitted hours for applying
  • You will be in education or training at the start of the programme
  • You do not have the relevant right to live and work in Ireland
  • You are not available for the full duration of the programme
  • You are not able to start a job immediately following completion of the programme
These may not all be relevant to your application. If you would like further clarification, please email the relevant programme inbox and a member of the team will provide you with more details.
Please be sure to read all questions on the application carefully before submitting to ensure your application is not rejected in error.
